BURGER - www.ericburger.org Eric Burger is a freelance musician who just retired from 21 years with the US Army Band. He has performed in over 30 countries as a classical, jazz and rock trombonist, singer, and bass player, and is a noteworthy arranger and vocalist. He has just returned after over 13 year overseas, where he performed with well known rock, pop, jazz, and salsa bands around Europe. Eric has performed on stage with Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Belson, Pearl Bailey, Lou Rawls, Ray Charles, Wayne Newton, Neil McKoy, Dante Thomas, and AJ Croce. He has performed with the Wolf Kaiser Big Band, Europool, Rudy Salvini Orchestra, L.A. Jazz, and Symphonic Orchestras in Pueblo, Heidelberg, Colorado Spring, and Karlsruhe. He was the Euphonium soloist with the Old Brass Band of Sacramento, has led numerous tuba and trombone quartets, and has played bass extensively with numerous rock, blues and country bands. Eric has been a featured soloist at The North Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands), Monteux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Klaipeda Jazz Festival (Lithuania), Playboy Jazz Festival (Los Angeles), Reno International Jazz Festival, Kool Jazz Festival (Los Angeles), Umbria Jazz Festival (Italy), Monterey Jazz Festival (California), and at Europa Park / SWR Jazz Festival (Germany). He has opened for Buddy Rich, Earl (Father) Hines, Count Basie Orchestra, Garth Brooks, Clint Black, Allen Jackson, Chris LeDue, Roger Miller, Billy Dean, and Bruce Willis and the Accelerators. He has recorded for over 40 artists and on numerous sound tracks, has also appeared on numerous television productions in Europe and Korea.While with the US Army Band, SSG Burger became well known as a big band and rock band leader, and repeatedly led groups that would be selected to conduct high profile recruitment and international public relations performances. His arrangements have been used by military and civilian bands on every continent. Eric has studied trombone with Frank Rosolino, Jiggs Whigham, Don Staples, Ernie Hills, and Paul Tanner. He has a Bachelors of Music degree in both Trombone Performance and Music Education. |
